MyMedicare and HFGP

HFGP is participating in the MyMedicare initiative and we invite all of our patients who consider us to be your usual practice, to participate.

MyMedicare is a Commonwealth Government initiative which began in October 2023. It is a voluntary registration system that allows you to formally register with your usual general practice and preferred GP. This registration aims to strengthen the relationship between you, your GP, and the team at HFGP in order to provide you continuity of care in order to improve your health and wellbeing.    Visit our MyMedicare page

We would like to welcome Andrea Popovic (B.Sc, APD), a dietitian from Bites health who will be working with us.

Dietitians can help with:

  • Sports nutrition (including muscle gain and fat loss, increasing endurance)

As part of our commitment to continuously improve our service, we have introduced an easy way for you to request repeat prescriptions for your regular medications or repeat referrals with no new symptoms to report. It is only available for our regular patients.

Please use this for requests for repeat prescriptions or ongoing referrals only, and not for new medications, sedatives or pain killers.

To qualify for this service and comply with Medicare requirements, you must have attended our practice in person sometime in the previous 12 months.

Covid-19 booster vaccination available

ATAGI has advised all adults can get a booster if it’s been 6 months or longer since their last COVID-19 booster or confirmed infection (whichever is most recent). Boosters give extra protection against severe illness from COVID.

This particularly includes people at higher risk of severe illness, like:

  • All adults aged over 65
  • everyone 18 years and over with medical comorbidities, disability or complex health needs.

Children and young people aged 5 to 17 years can consider getting a booster dose if:

  • they have a health condition that put them at risk of severe illness, and
  • if it’s been 6 months since their last dose or COVID-19 infection.

Our fees and billing policy

In February 2023, we introduced an out of pocket fee will apply for some patients for routine consultations. In order to minimise the impact of this change, we will continue to bulk bill (i.e. not charge):

  • All children under 16 years of age as they are eligible for the bulk billing incentive*
  • All patients 70 years of age and over*
  • Patients eligible for the bulk billing incentive with a Centrelink Concession Card, Pensioner Concession Card or Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card
  • Veterans with a Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) white or gold card
  • Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander patients*
  • Specific services such as chronic disease care plans and mental health care plans and health assessments
  • Any patient with a current Covid infection
  • Annual Heart Health Checks**
