We offer both telephone or video consultations in line with Medicare requirements.

Medicare Eligibility for Telehealth Appointments

To be eligible for a Medicare rebate for a telehealth consultation, you must have attended the practice within the last 12 months unless the following applies:

  • You have had a Covid-19 test and are still waiting for the result
  • You a close contact of someone with Covid-19 and need to isolate in accordance with state health requirements
  • You live in a Commonwealth declared hotspot
  • You are under 12 months of age
  • You have Covid-19 and need to isolate
  • You are experiencing homelessness
  • You are under a stay at home order
  • You have a specific medical issues relating to blood borne viruses and reproductive health

The Role of Telehealth

Telehealth has played an important role in ensuring the continuity of care during the COVID-19 pandemic and offered greater flexibility.

However, Telehealth is not suitable for everything. Your safety is paramount, and hence Telehealth is not possible if we need to examine you or see you in person. Your doctor and our team will help you make that decision.

Examples of consultations that may be suitable for Telehealth include such things as:

  • General advice about minor ailments such as colds and sore throat
  • Routine prescriptions and referrals
  • Preventative health advice
  • Follow up where suitable and informed by your doctor
  • Care plans and other consultations for helping you manage your chronic health problems that do not need a physical examination

Examples of consultations that are NOT suitable for Telehealth include:

  • New/acute issues or concerns
  • Musculoskeletal conditions
  • Rashes

Practice Hours

Monday- Friday 8am-6pm
(Closing between 1pm-2pm for lunch)
Saturdays: 8am-12pm

Please cancel the appointment at least 2 hours before your scheduled arrival. You can do this on the app, or call us at the practice. A charge of $50 may apply if you do not arrive at the surgery for your appointment. We understand that emergencies occur so please let us know if that is the case.

After Hours

Our after hours service is available from 6pm to 8am if required , from 12pm Saturday, Sundays and Public Holidays please call Sydney Medical Service for a home visit during this time on: 8724 6300.
