We are a bulk billing practice

2025-11-01T13:35:44+00:00

We will be a bulk billing practice from 1 November 2025.

This year, the Commonwealth Government announced significant new funding and incentives to encourage bulk billing. Currently, doctors receive a “bulk billing incentive” when they choose to bulk bill eligible patients. Up to now, this has only applied to children under 16 and holders of Commonwealth concession or health care cards.

From 1 November 2025, the Commonwealth is extending this incentive to all patients with a Medicare or Veterans Affairs card.

As a result, we are pleased to confirm that Hills Family General Practice will return to bulk billing all patients from this date.

We appreciate the Commonwealth’s additional support, which allows us to make this change. We will continue to monitor future policy and funding developments on a regular basis and will review our billing policy if incentives are withdrawn or fail to keep pace with rising costs.

Cancer screening

2025-09-24T14:15:38+00:00

Australia has three main national population-based cancer screening programs: the BreastScreen Australia Program for breast cancer, the National Cervical Screening Program for cervical cancer, and the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program for bowel cancer. These government-run programs aim to detect cancers early to reduce illness and death, with each targeting specific age groups and using different screening methods to identify the disease at its earliest stages.

Please speak with your doctor or nurse if you want to learn more about these programs and how you can get screened.

Chronic Condition Management

2025-08-27T09:23:33+00:00

Many people ask us about chronic condition management and “care plans”.

The Commonwealth Government has recently updated what were previously known as Care Plans. These changes came into effect 1 July 2025.

If you are living with a chronic condition, these changes are designed to support you in setting your own health and wellbeing goals. As your regular general practice, we will check with you every three months to review your plan and ensure your care stays on track. These review visits will continue to be bulk billed. A reminder that we encourage all of our patients to register with us in MyMedicare.

If you have questions, or would like to discuss your health further, please do not hesitate to speak with us.

Men’s Health at HFGP

2025-06-25T14:42:32+00:00

June marks both Mens Health Month and Bowel Cancer Awareness Month a timely reminder to check in on the health of the men in our lives.

Every day, 50 men in Australia die from preventable causes before the age of 75 that’s over 18,000 lives each year, many from conditions that could be treated or prevented with early care. Yet, men are less likely to see their GP regularly.

Has your dad, brother, son, partner or friend had a check-up lately? Or perhaps it’s time to book one for yourself?

Paediatric Care

2024-04-10T01:39:13+00:00

Looking after our young patients is very important to us. We take great joy in looking after our babies and young families. Our practice has 8 doctors that have the additional qualification of Diploma of Child Health. Our four nurses have all completed a post graduate immunisation course. We have a purpose built vaccination room and a separate children’s play area. In order to allow enough time for a comprehensive developmental check, our immunisation appointments are designed to give 30 minutes with the registered nurse as well as time with the GP. As a team they administer the vaccination together.
