We believe that team based care helps build the GP-patient relationship, and is designed to improve the quality and safety of the care we provide. Our practice team, which includes GPs, nurses, a medical practice assistant, a consultant pharmacist, a dietitian, a psychologist, and reception team, work together to ensure that you receive the advice and help that you need.

Wally graduated from Sydney University in 1988 and started the practice with Madeline. He has been a GP in the Hills district since 1994.  His clinical interests include paediatrics, men’s health, ethics, and health law. He also has a Masters of Health Law from the University of Sydney. He has a keen interest in quality and safety in health care, health policy, health reform and health economics, as well as models of care in general practice, including the Patient Centred Medical Home framework. He currently spends a lot of time on various committees and advisory bodies with the Ministry of Health in NSW as well as the Department of Health and Aged Care in Canberra. He is a member of the Medicare Services Advisory Committee, and was a member of the former Strengthening  Medicare Taskforce.  He is a Board member of the Western Sydney Local Health District,Western Sydney Primary Health Network, and Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. He was NSW RACGP GP of year in 2017. Wally’s personal interests include travel.

DR NUWAN DHARMARATNE

Dr Nuwan Joined the team in 2015. He spent much of his childhood in northwestern Sydney and has a good knowledge of the benefits and challenges faced by patients in the area. He completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Sydney, majoring in neuroscience and was granted the university medal. He went on to study medicine at the Australian National University in Canberra and returned to Western Sydney to complete his hospital training. He subsequently obtained fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and also gained further qualifications in child health during this time.
Nuwan enjoys the breadth and diversity of general practice. He has a special interest in paediatrics, treatment and prevention of chronic disease and men’s health. He is also actively involved in training the next generation of general practitioners and also works as a medical educator with the Royal Australian College of GPs.

Nuwan has done extra training in skin cancer diagnosis and is able to perform skin checks and skin cancer surgery.

DR DIANA RAJAN

Dr Rajan commenced working at Hills Family Practice in July 2013. Prior to that she has gained experience at Hornsby Hospital GP, Alpha Medical Centre and Astley Medical Centre. Dr Rajan completed her fellowship exams with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. She is also a Clinical Editor with Health Pathways which is an online clinical and referral tool for General Practitioners in Western Sydney. She loves the variety General Practice has to offer, and has a keen interest in Paediatrics and in looking after the health needs of families.

Dr Rajan has done extra training in skin cancer diagnosis and is able to perform skin checks and skin cancer surgery.

DR EMMA GREEN

Dr Green graduated from University of Sydney in 1998 with M.B.B.S and also completed B.Sc (Hons 1 – Genetics) at the University of Sydney. She has worked at Royal North Shore Hospital and has had clinical experience at Westmead Hospital, Nepean Hospital and in the Maternity hospital in Apia, Western Samoa. She has worked in General Practice since 2009 and has been working with Hills Family General Practice since 2011.

Dr Green enjoys all aspects of General Practice. She was a counsellor with the Australian Breastfeeding Association for a number of years and has her Family Planning Australia Certificate.

In her spare time, Dr Green enjoys being with family and friends, seeing new places in Australia, camping, reading, sitting near a fireside and dancing. She would like to speak better German and to improve her fitness.

DR AURORA YU

Dr Yu graduated from the University of New South Wales and has postgraduate qualifications including the Diploma of Child Health (University of Sydney) and a Family Planning Australia certificate. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners in Australia. Dr Yu loves the variety in General Practice and she has been with us since 2012. In 2014 Dr Yu undertook further study in Dermatology and completed a certificate of dermoscopy in 2020. She is also involved in training GP registrars.

DR DARIS VILKINS

Dr Daris studied medicine at University of Queensland, graduating in 2013. Prior to this he studied medical science at University of Sydney, graduating with honours which led to his position working as a research assistant in the Mycobacterial research lab at the Centenary institute. After his studies he returned to Western Sydney to complete his intern and residency in Blacktown, Mt Druitt and Westmead hospitals. He then was employed at Concord hospital Emergency where he still occasionally works. He spent his formative and school years in northwestern Sydney and now continues to live in the local area

DR NICOLA BARKER

Nicola grew up in North-west Sydney, and graduated from UNSW in 2004.
She completed her junior training years at various Sydney hospitals including Concord Hospital and Children’s Hospital Westmead.

Finding that she really enjoyed being able to develop continuity of care with patients and their families, Nicola decided to enter General Practice. She joined Hills Family General Practice as a registrar whilst completing her training, and has been a Fellowed GP for over 10 years.

Nicola enjoys all aspects of General Practice, with special interests in Children’s Health and Women’s Health.
Away from work, she keeps busy with her young family, and enjoys music, bushwalking and travel.

DR SHASHENKA WITHANAGE

Shashenka completed her medical degree at the University of New South Wales in 2014, graduating with Distinction. Shashenka trained as a junior doctor in several hospitals in Sydney including Hornsby-Kuringai Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital and Mona Vale Hospital. She joined general practice in 2017 and thoroughly enjoys the diversity of general practice. She has completed the Sydney Child Health Program through the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network and has a Certificate in Sexual Health and Family Planning through Family Planning Australia. We are very pleased to announce that Shashenka was the 2018 NSW/ACT RACGP Registrar of the year.

Shashenka is passionate about health education, preventative health care and believes in a holistic approach to managing health conditions. She is dedicated to giving back as a GP and is involved in GP registrar training and education as a medical educator with the RACGP. Shashenka enjoys spending her spare time with her young family.

Shashenka will be on extended leave till January 2025.

Sarah graduated from the University of Sydney with an honours degree in Medicine & Surgery prior to which she completed an honours degree in Medical Science with a Pharmacology major earning her the University Medal. As a junior doctor, she trained at several hospitals including Westmead Hospital and the Childrens Hospital at Westmead and subsequently completed a Diploma in Child Health through the University of Sydney and the Childrens Hospital at Westmead and a Certificate in Sexual Health & Family Planning through Family Planning Australia.

She joined us in 2011 as a general practice registrar and has continued with us since as a fully qualified General Practitioner. Sarah loves the complexity and challenges of general practice and is passionate about patient education and empowerment. Above all she values the therapeutic relationship she is privileged to share with her patients and the continuity of care that general practice allows. She is dedicated to educating our future doctors and is actively involved in training general practice registrars. Away from work Sarah loves spending time with her young family and believes being a parent helps bring a deeper dimension to her practice.

Emily completed her medical degree at the University of Sydney in 2008. She also has a Bachelor of Advanced Science from the same institution, with majors in Biochemistry and Geography. Emily trained at several hospitals as a junior doctor, including Westmead Hospital and the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, before entering General Practice. Emily has postgraduate qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Child Health and Sexual and Reproductive Health

Emily enjoys the continuity of care that general practice offers. She has special interests in paediatrics and women’s health from menstrual concerns, fertility/pregnancy to perimenopause and menopause.

DR SANDY LU

Sandy graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2015 with a Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at Westmead Hospital, before commencing general practice training in Western Sydney and is now a Fellow of the College of General Practitioners. Sandy has completed a Diploma in Child Health. She has an interest in preventive health care and enjoys the diversity of general practice.

DR TRIPURA SHARMA

Dr Sharma has completed her MBBS and MD in Respiratory Medicine in India. She worked full time as respiratory physician in India for several years. She has also worked in the UK and has gained broad experience in general medicine and allied specialties. She started her career in Australia in 2010, worked in several areas including Respiratory Medicine, General Practice in rural Australia, Integrated Care Medicine, Emergency and Addiction Medicine. She enjoys the diversity of general practice and enthusiastically embraces challenges in general practice and is a Fellow of the College of General Practitioners.

She is passionate about patient education, preventive health and integrated care. During her career she has gained additional qualifications including MRCP, Specialty Certificate in Respiratory Medicine and European Diploma in Respiratory Medicine, MPhil (University of Sydney) and DCH (University Western Sydney).

DR ROHIT GHOSH

Dr Ghosh enjoys all aspects of general practice, including acute, long-term and preventative care. In particular, he has special interest in paediatrics, as well as dermatology, and is able to perform skin checks, manage skin cancers and perform skin procedures as required. Dr Ghosh is currently in the process of completing an Advanced Certificate in Skin Cancer, from the Australasian College of Dermatology, and has also previously completed the Sydney Child Health Program (SCHP) in Paediatrics from The Sydney Children’s Hospital Network in 2019.

Natalie completed her medical degree, Doctor of Medicine, at Griffith University prior to which she studied a Bachelor of Medical Science. As a junior doctor, she worked in several hospitals in Western Sydney, before entering General Practice. She has also completed the Sydney Child Health Program from The Sydney Children’s Hospital Network in 2022. Outside of work, Natalie enjoys spending time with her friends and family, and finding new places to eat.

DR RAMESSH RANJAN

Specialist endocrinologist

Dr Ramessh is an endocrinologist and staff specialist at The Canberra Hospital and Barton Specialist Clinic. He has recently moved to Sydney to support his wife’s career. Ramessh completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne, before attaining his fellowship in both endocrinology and general medicine.

Ramessh has a keen interest in all aspects of endocrinology including:

  • diabetes mellitus (type 1, type 2 and gestational)
  • thyroid disorders
  • osteoporosis
  • calcium and parathyroid disorders
  • hypertension
  • menopause
  • adrenal disorders
  • pituitary disorders

He is passionate in providing quality, holistic care and working collaboratively with patients to improve their health outcomes. Ramessh enjoys spending time with his young family and playing basketball, squash and cricket.
